In today's economic and financial environment, the need for a senior financial executive who is strategically minded, operationally-savvy and demonstrates financial integrity has never been greater. With thirty years of experience, Steven Droll has proven to be that senior financial executive. He has built his career on understanding how key decisions not only affect the short-term, but may lay the groundwork for success in the future.
At Clemson University, where he received a BS in Financial Management, there was early focus on anticipating the future interlinking of the world economies. Having visited and lived in Honduras, he decided to attend the world-renowned
Master in
International
Business
Studies at the University of South Carolina. The two year program, including an overseas internship, prepared him for a successful career in an ever-changing world economy.
After a number of years of managing hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign exchange contracts, working on international mergers & acquisitions and raising financing in US and foreign financial markets, Steven put into practice his leadership skills by becoming CFO of a wireless communications company in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As the dominant player in the market, the company saw tremendous customer, revenue and profitability growth during his five year tenure.
Drawing on this experience as CFO, his next role offered him opportunities to improve communication and coordination between parent company financial organization and the operational/financial organizations of the BellSouth International operations throughout the globe. As a member of numerous subsidiaries' Board of Directors, his insight into operational issues driving financial results proved invaluable to management at all levels. As a nineteen year veteran of BellSouth International, he was both an active participant and witness to the creation of one of the greatest success stories in the global telecom arena -- BellSouth International/Latin America. Additionally, he has had the privilege of working with some of the greatest international telecommunications leaders ever assembled in one company, many of whom helped to further mold his management style.
Following his career at BellSouth International, Steven looked to expand his horizons by seeking out new challenges. In 2006, he accepted a CFO position at a privately-held telecommunications company in Minnesota. In the following 20 months, he reorganized the Accounting/Finance organization, implemented new financial reporting procedures/planning process and improved the relationship of the financial area with other organizations within the company. These efforts, along with others, contributed to the successful sale of the company to another private equity investment group in late 2007.
During his career, the development of people has been a key driver in Steven's management style. Recognizing that employees, at all levels, are key assets of the company, he searches for the underlying potential in each one. Over the years, a number of direct and indirect reports have gone on to successful careers in finance/accounting, marketing and operations, not only in the US, but also in other countries.
Today, with these years of experience at hand, Steven is anticipating his next opportunity to provide leadership to a company seeking to reach its full potential. Having proven his adaptability to be a leader in any type of situation, start-up to a Fortune 500 or US or global, he brings an in-depth understanding of how the financial organization should support operational excellence while maintaining financial integrity.
Steven is involved in several ministries at his church, including preparing himself to be a Stephen's Minister. Recently, in anticipation of possible relocation, he passed the Georgia Real Estate and now has an active Georgia Real Estate license. He enjoys golf and music. And, on numerous weekends, he and his wife may be seen at one of their sons' college athletic events at Davidson College (Men's Swimming) or Furman University (Men's Tennis).
